How are steel plates produced?

The production process of steel plates mainly includes the following steps:

Preparation work: Select raw materials suitable for the production of steel plates, usually iron ore, coal, coke, etc., and perform pretreatment to remove impurities and ensure the quality of the raw materials.

Steelmaking: Add the selected raw materials into the steelmaking furnace, add an appropriate amount of limestone, alumina and other auxiliary materials, and melt the iron alloy through high temperature and high pressure. The molten iron is vacuum deoxidized, refined and cast into a billet.

Casting: The molten iron after steelmaking will be poured into a casting machine for casting to form a steel billet. During the casting process, temperature, flow rate and shaping need to be controlled to ensure that the quality of the cast billets meets the standards.

Rolling: The process of stretching, flattening and stretching steel billets into steel plates through a rolling mill. Steel billets are rolled in different ways, such as cold rolling and hot rolling, to produce steel plates of different thicknesses and widths.

Surface treatment: After the steel plate is processed by hot rolling, cold rolling and other processes, some irregular and uneven stains and oxides may appear on the surface, which requires surface treatment such as rust removal and polishing. The purpose of this link is to ensure the appearance quality of the steel plate and enhance its corrosion resistance for subsequent processing and use.

Finished product processing: According to customer needs, anti-corrosion, anti-rust and other coating treatments are performed to improve the protective capability and service life of the steel plate.

In the entire production process, ironmaking, steelmaking and steel rolling are the three main links. Ironmaking is the process of obtaining pig iron from iron ore. Steelmaking is the steel obtained by smelting pig iron at high temperature to reduce its carbon mass fraction and remove impurities. Steel rolling is the process of stretching and flattening steel billets into steel plates through rolling mills. process.
